I-V / Photovoltaic Efficiency Measurement
Photovoltaic Testing / Optoelectronic Characterization
The Current–Voltage (I–V) Characterization & Photovoltaic Efficiency Measurement is a standard performance evaluation technique used to determine the electrical characteristics and energy conversion efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) devices. The system measures current-voltage behavior under controlled illumination and calculates key performance parameters such as efficiency, open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF), and maximum power output. This test evaluates the electrical performance of photovoltaic devices by recording the current-voltage (I–V) characteristics under simulated solar illumination. A calibrated solar simulator provides controlled light intensity equivalent to sunlight, while a precision source meter measures current and voltage across the device. The system automatically calculates important photovoltaic parameters including conversion efficiency (PCE), open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF), maximum power point (Pmax), current density (Jsc), and series/shunt resistance. The analysis is essential for research, product development, quality control, and certification of silicon, thin-film, perovskite, organic, and tandem solar cells.
